This is a great place to take your little ones. It is only about 30mins from the base and offers free entry via the Heroes Salute program.
There are tons of water and dry rides for little kids so make sure you wear your swimsuit. They have lockers for rent that definitely come in handy. It gets pretty crowded during the summer months so I would recommend going on a weekday in the morning. If you go on the website you can see all the options for dining w/ the Sesame Street characters. We never did this though - the characters are always walking around and are very accessible.
I would recommend taking a picnic lunch to eat by your car. You can get a stamp for reentry. The food is not very good IMO but like most amusement places, the prices are high. The 2nd time we went, we ate our own food out by the car and saved lots of $$ and ate healthier than if we'd eaten in the park.
There is a character parade in the afternoon that the kids love.
This is a great day trip especially w/ the Heroes Salute free voucher.
