Will I be ” that” person on the plane with a baby?

My little man’s 1st birthday is coming soon. The husband and I discussed Birthday party ideas. Like..do we even have one since we haven’t met that many people here yet to invite and for that matter, that have kids young enough. Then we discussed flying to my home town. We would have discussed going to his, but he was a military brat and for those of you who grew up in the military you know that means friends all over and not in one place. So we thought about going together, but  for one of us to fly was about $800.00 …say WHAT???? So, we decided that was not the right choice for us. So we decided we would just have a little party for ourselves, get him a cake and a present and call it a day. Then not even a week later we find out he has to go TDY for 10 days (not on his birthday, but before).
So me….I think well we have enough points (miles) for me to fly. So now I have planned a party back at home ,invited everyone I could think of, and will spend a lot of money anyway. My flight was planned for tomorrow, but was cancelled due to bad weather. Not to mention it’s in the negative 20’s round here with the wind chill….BBRRRRRR!!!!!!
Ok so to the point I was trying to make. I am completely nervous about flying alone with my little man!!!!! Trying to carry everything including car seat, Getting through security with all baby items without a hassle, and lastly my most nerve racking part…..will I be “that” person with the baby on the plane. You know the one with the kid who won’t stop crying, hitting the seat in front of me, yelling at the top of his lungs, and kicking and hitting the person next to me. Ahhhh…… my eleven month old doesn’t talk, but can squeal like the best of pigs…lol and he has been walking since before Christmas. Getting him to sit still in one place is almost impossible. When I got the call tonight that my flight was cancelled I was almost relieved to not go on the plane…then realized I planned a big ole party and had to go through with it. Well I guess we will see. Any advice?? Stories to make me feel better ??

  1. So do tell, how was your trip?
We were stationed in Alaska for many years and that is where our first child was born. I traveled with him all the time, but before we started traveling I had all the same fears you mentioned! They have these awesome little seats that you can strap onto your carry on bag! Helps A LOT! So that eliminates the stroller!! If you are going to travel often, this is really the best way to go!
Can’t wait to hear how his 1st birthday went!
