Key Spouse

I have only been a military spouse now going on 3 years. At our 1st base time went by so quickly with being pregnant and my husband being deployed to Afghanistan, that I really didn’t take the time to learn about what a “key spouse” actually does. Now as I sat here in Minot waiting to get my teaching certificate and after learning this squadron doesn’t have a spouses group…I thought to myself I need to do something. Then there was a post on our squadron’s page that they needed a key spouse. So here it was my opportunity to do something for the squadron and for myself. I love being a stay at home mom right now, but I find myself needing a little bit more. I have worked since I was 16 so this is not something I’m use to. So to keep me active and not on my butt I volunteered. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I hope to make some life long friends and be a person that the spouses in our squadron can count on. I haven’t had the formal training yet, so I still don’t know the complete logistics of what it entails, but I am a good learner and can’t wait for this experience. Advice from key spouses?? Or those who have has interactions with them?? The good, the bad???
