Be always at War with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better person. – Benjamin Franklin

Another year has come and is about to be gone. Something we call a memory. What I will remember about this year.

In January, I was 9 months pregnant and living in New Jersey.

On February 1st I brought my beautiful baby boy into this world. My husband was deployed in Afghanistan at the time, but his commander allowed him the day off to sit and Skype with me throughout my labor. Even when I ending up having an emergency c-section they allowed the computer in. As for my wonderful support that included my Mother-in-Law and my friend Carolyn. My family was on their way from Chicago, but ending up stuck because of one of the biggest snow storms ever. They made it eventually.  And I had a couple of great friends venture out as well.

In April my husband finally returned to meet his new baby boy for the 1st time. Seeing the look on his face holding him for the 1st time was amazing.  Even though we were in a long distance relationship for about 2 years, nothing  can prepare you to be apart from your loved one for 9 months . So, of course there was a lot of getting to know each other again and learning how to do it with our amazing addition.

In May, we took a road trip to Chicago to show off the new little man to all my friends and family. That was interesting with a baby, but he did great. While I was there I was able to see my baby brother graduate from HS!!!  Visited the Jr. High I use to work at to see all the amazing teachers there. Oh and to let baby Maverick meet one of my former students named Maverick (that’s a different story).

In June, I got my 1st full day babysitter so we could go see Jimmy Buffett!!!!!  It was some much needed time for me and the hubby just to get out together without baby…but I sure did miss him.

In July, I Flew to Chicago by myself…No Baby!!! Ahhh…that was the 1st time, but daddy did an amazing job. My good friend Kelly was getting married, but I didn’t go out for the wedding…I went for the bachelorette party…lol.     Too Much Fun!!!  Oh, and the hubby worked the 4th of July so the little man and I went with the squadron commander’s wife to see fireworks (she was my favorite babysitter).

In August, I remember feeling my 1st earthquake and preparing for our 1st hurricane…hurricane Irene to be exact. I laugh now because I made my baby sleep in a closet because of all the tornado warnings. J This was also the original month we were supposed to be moved to Minot, but with the horrible flood out here there wasn’t anywhere for us to go.

In September…..waited to move to Minot.

In October……waited to move to Minot. I started a professional photography certification course!!!

November is a special month to me…..My husband’s birthday, my birthday, and our anniversary. This was our 2nd wedding anniversary and we took a honeymoon/birthday/anniversary cruise to the Bahamas!!!! So much fun. Then we drove to Minot, our new home. We arrived on Thanksgiving day and had nothing. Our new neighbors were so great and invited us over for food!!

In December, I was able to be with my husband and baby for the holiday..best present ever!!!!

I hope that wasn’t too long!!!

So now..the new year is ahead and I have to make a resolution right???

This new year I will promise to try and I mean try to work out with my husband more. I want to learn as much as I can about photography and finish my certification on time. I want to continue to be the great Mom I know I am and never take for granted the time I have with my husband before he has to go on another “trip”.
